SATURDAY SMILES WEEK 2!

BEASTIE BESTIES

Beatles, Gardens, and Octopi, Oh My!

Remember the classic Beatles song Octopus Garden? Well, the odd name was actually based on a real-life behavior that these triple-hearted fellows exhibit. Octopuses, amongst playing, den sleepovers, color-changing, and even mapping out their environments, also collect plants, shells, and other decorations to create stunning sea floor gardens that can house dozens of octopi. However, these gardens do serve another purpose, housing shared nurseries and creating a safe and easily defendable environment for those octopus fry to grow big and strong. Little else is known about the purpose of these crafted grottos, but I choose to believe that octopuses just like to make relaxing little gardens for their little octopus troubles to melt away.
